mint Meseum of Toys

If you mention the word mint, I'll probably think of peppermint or Singapore Mint. No no... it's neither the two. This "mint" place which I went today is the meseum of toys!

So what does mint mean in this case?

It actually stands for 'memories of imaginative & nolstalgic toys' (if I didn't remember wrongly!) The place consists of 5 floors plus a cafe at the basement. The exhibits (toys) were spread over the 4 levels, with each level having a different theme. Some of the toys which we managed to catch a glimpse of include tin tin, felix the cat, popeye, mickey mouse, betty boop, a collection of snow white & the seven dwarfs. Haha... it's such an interesting place! Many of these toys I've not even seen them before when I was young. The toys in the meseum will be rotated every few months, so you'll be amazed by the wide collection of toys the owner has.

Another interesting point about this toy meseum is that the lightings on the display shelves were done in such a way that they will not cast any shadow of the toy. So it definitely helps when it comes to phototaking. No matter which angle you take from, the picture will look good. But one important thing to note when photographing here is that no flash is allowed. This is to prevent the flashlight from degrading the colour of the precious toys.

Something interesting was mentioned during the guided tour. Look at the pic below. How is this snow white different from the usual one??

Think hard!!! Think think think!!

The answer is that the "real" one has black hair! Got it right??

Well, so why is there a blond hair snow white in the meseum? Haha...that's for you to go & find out! The admission cost $10 for adult and $5 for children (aged 2 - 12 years old).

The pic above is one of my favourite pic. Or I should say one of the cutest pose of the seven dwarfs I've seen at the meseum. It so resemble someone!!! Hee hee....

It broke. My heart broke too.

My snowball!!!

It's been like this for 1 yr & 2 months. So nice & pretty! I like the 2 little bears in the globe as well as the guardian angel bear on top of it. I really like the phrase written on it too.
It reads
"Friends
Every time you're with me
you always make me smile"

But, a careless me swept my hand across my table & the snowball toppled & shattered. My heart shattered too. It's one of my best Christmas present so far. Really sad leh. Even my eyes turned teary & I totally lost the mood for lunch. :'(

The snowball broke into pieces, with bits of glass, water & the snowflakes all over my desk. All I could recover were these:

The base, some glass & the 2 "dry bears".

The poor guardian angel was separated from the other 2 bears.

I'm really so upset! Don't know if the same snowball can be found? Sob sob.... My precious snowball!! :'(

Yuan Xia with Yebbers!

Today marks the last day of Chinese New Year. Sob sob... no more angpow & lou hei but there's still lots of CNY goodies left at home. Actually also didn't gt to eat much CNY goodies this yr. My persistent cough lasted from a week before CNY & till now I have yet recovered. *cough cough* Yes! Almost a month already!! If this continues, I guess I need to get an x-ray of my chest done. Sigh...
Anyway, even with the cough, fun still continues!
Had a final CNY gathering with Yebbers & Hotpot Culture tonite. *BURP* Yah, still very full from the dinner! Not only did we have a full dinner, we had lots of fun & laughter. Haha... Look forward to the next outing!
Enjoy the comics done by Claudia :)

Valentine's Day! Qing's Big Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! Today is also my day off from work. But wait, please don't get it wrong. I didn't take leave to celebrate V'day but to attend my dearest friend's big day. Yes yes, it's Qing's & CY's ROM day! Congrats to Mr Chua & Mdm Tang. Oppz... I should address you as Mrs Chua! Hee hee....

Got up at usual hour as on any other working day & I was greeted with a nice & yummy Big breakfast. Haha... I supposed I can call it a V'day special. Yes, though it's just a simple breakfast, but it really made me quite happy. Thanks LLT!!

The whole afternoon was a busy one. Three of us accompanied the bride & groom to their bridal shop for the make up & dress up before rushing down to the Registry. Phew! We only managed to reach the Registry 5 mins before the allocated time slot due to some hiccups along the way. Luckily we were still in time, although all guests had already arrived and were waiting for the couple. With just some 5 mins spent in the registrar office, and they are now husband & wife! That's really fast! Wanna say again, congrats to both of you & have a blissful marriage! After some photo-shooting, off we went to Carousel @ Scotts for our High-tea with the couple, their family & friends!

Post-ROM was more of F&E, own activities. Yah, many were off to meet their partners to celebrate their V'day. Along the way @ Orchard road, you could easily find people seizing this great opportunity to sell overpriced roses. Yah, overheard one vendor selling her "old-fashionedly" wrapped (you know those traditional silver wrapper for flowers? So out-dated now!) roses going at $6 per stalk. Wah, freaking expensive manz!! Just then, I asked my partner if he would get those flowers for me. But his answer was clearly a NO. He said he'll rather give me the $6 than buy the ridiculously expensive flowers. Then he really dug his wallet for $6. All I told him was that I wanted 999 stalks of flowers not just 1 stalk ( so $6 x 999 = $5994!!!!). He simply stood there, speechless. Wahahaa....

Well, we just went for a free movie screening that evening (coz he has won some movie ticket again! Haha!!) then home sweet home. As simple as that. No flowers, no presents, no fanciful/overly-priced dinner but just a Big Breakfast & a nice stroll home. That's really nice & sweet enough.

Happy Valentine's Day.

CNY Visitings & Gatherings

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EVERYONE! Yes yes, you didn't see wrongly. According to Chinese, today is everybody's birthday & we call it ren ri. It falls on the 7th day of the 1st month based on the Lunar calendar. So today is a day to lou hei! HUAT BIG BIG AH!

So today I ended "louing" twice, one over lunch with my fellow colleagues & I'm just done with another one at LLT's place. Haha...4 times of lou hei so far for the new year & there's still more to come! Wahahaha

So how have I spent the last 7 days of my CNY??

Day1: Stayed at home with my family and my aunt & cousin came over for CNY visiting in the evening. Happy to see them but miss my nieces coz they didn't come. Other than that I just spend my day surfing net, watching tv, sleeping, eating. Haha....But still feeling good, coz it's been a long time since my family & I spend time together at home like that. Hee hee...

Day 2: I slept till around 10am for my Doreamon cartoon, then lazed around until 1+pm when LLT came to my house for visiting. After lunch (my mum's cooking. YEAH!!), went over to LLT's place for my 1st step-out-of-my-house CNY visit. Haha.... Tried to book movie tix at GV website many times before we finally managed to get 2 tix to 'The Diving Bell & the Butterfly'. Shocked to see that Vivocity is so crowded just like any other weekends! Went to Breadtalk to get some bread but most bread were either not made because of CNY or they've been swept off by the crowd. Haa.... After movie was home sweet home.

Day 3: Finally back to 3 hrs of gym class after 3 days of slacking. Haha... Still coughing badly, so took it easy in gym. After which we went over to Pearlina's house for gathering. There we went crazy over PS3 followed by blackjack. No luck, lost some $$. :( Oh yah, I also had my 1st lou hei for this CNY & had a nicely prepared Tepanyakki dinner. All thanks to the hosts!! Then off we were to watch 'Ah long' movie. Hee hee.....

Day 4: It's Sunday! One last day before going back to work! Went for Yebbers' gathering at Claudia's house. Yes, thanks for the invitation & the pizzas! Played blackjack again & LOST AGAIN!!! Wah, really no luck leh!! Then went off the mee Qing & the rest together with their bfs for ktv! Still coughing madly, so didn't sing alot. Looked like everything was nice & peaceful but then I think there's some unhappiness again. Hmm....Really scratching my head & wonder why. Women r so mafan leh. Yes, even though I myself is a true woman, I can't find any reason to deny this fact. Do this also not right, do that also not right. Sigh...

Day 5, 6, 7: Work ,lor, what else?? Haha.... Yah, played Blackjack again just now. Just couldn't believe my luck. LOST AGAIN!!! But nvm, coz LLT won like $60!!! Congrats to him & to me too! Coz my expenses for the next few days shall be beared by him. Ahahaha

Finished my reunion dinner with my family by around 9pm & till now I'm still feeling quite full from the steamboat although I didn't eat alot. Poor appetite. Still coughing!! *cough cough*
I've been suffering from a bad cough since early last week, from a dry cough now it became a cough with phlegm. Today I went to see the doc for a 2nd time & got more antibiotics & cough mixture & also a MC for today! Haha....so I can go back next week to cancel my leave, which also mean that I'll have to clear 2.5 days of leave in April! Hehee.... For for now, really hope to recover from my cough soon, otherwise I can't eat alot of the CNY goodies. :(

So tonite gotta shou sui for the good of my parents. Yes, wish that they'll always stay healthy & happy! Can't wait to receive my 1st ang pows from my parents tomorrow morning!!!
